Shania Twain Timmins Olympic Torch Run

Shania Twain is slated to host the CBC flagship radio show, The Current, on Friday with a feature interview with Queen Rania of Jordan.

Shania Twain's website has an announcement say the pop music superstar will interview Queen Rania of Jordan regarding the Queen's charity for underprivileged children 1Care.

Twain who grew up poor in Timmins in Northern Ontario will also perform at an inner city school in Toronto, ON.

For the CBC having a star like Shania Twain host a "serious" current affairs CBC radio program like The Current is an unusual but not unwelcome move, by the normally staid public broadcaster.

Shania Twain's most recent public appearance was carrying the Olympic Torch in her home town of Timmins, ON. (see video)
