What would summer be without Shark Week. For the 22nd year, the Discovery Channel will feature programming about sharks. Shark Week started back in 1987 and was named after a novella by writer Nicholas Hill.

Here's a brief rundown of Shark Week 2009:

Blood in the Water A retelling of a series of 1916 shark attack that inspired "Jaws." Sunday, Aug. 2, 9 pm

Deadly Waters Survivorman Les Stroud visits spots where shark attacks often occur around the world. Monday, Aug. 3, 9 pm

Day of the Shark 2 Various stories about sharks, include one about a former Navy SEAL attacked by a shark off the coast of Florida Monday, Aug. 3, 10 pm

Sharkbite Summer  A review of 2001's so-called "Summer of the Shark," when more than 50 attacks took place on American beaches. Tuesday Aug. 4, 9 pm

Great White Appetite  A look at sharks' feeding behavior. Wednesday, Aug. 5, 9 pm

Shark After Dark Explores sharks' late-night hunting grounds. Thursday, 9 pm

I really hate people killing sharks,sometimes Igo in to a store and see shark I get real ticky!!!!

Just watched Blood in the Water. They went for this period-meets-CSI thing, and included a dramatization which included a growling Great White. 

Great Whites do not growl or otherwise vocalize. This is because they don't breathe air. C'mon, Discovery Channel.
