According to Nikki Finke from Deadline.com, Shutter Island is on its way to a second straight weekend as the #1 movie in North America. The film grossed an estimated $6.7 million. Kevin Smith's Cop Out was in second with $6.2 million. And, The Crazies, a remake of George A. Romero's horror flick, was in third with $5.7 million.

Shutter Island, which has a reported budget of $80 million, has grossed $52.8 million since Thursday. It has a chance of grossing over $100 million domestically by the end of its run. Meanwhile, Cop Out is likely to be a record opener for Smith. His movies have never opened with more than $10-11 million. So, while it might be affected by bad word-of-mouth, it could still gross higher than his usual picture and make back its $30 million budget.
