Rumours of a possible pregnancy for M.I.A., aka. Mathangi "Maya" Arulpragasam, have been confirmed following her appearance at the Diesel xXx Rock and Roll Circus party in Brooklyn on October 11th, 2008, where she was flaunting her very-pregnant belly beneath a spandex shirt and supposedly quipped that "she got knocked up on the job."
M.I.A. first appeared on stage at last night's Diesel party during T.I.'s surprise set which was right before Franz Ferdinand played. Then she came back to do her own set which segued right into N.E.R.D.'s short set which closed the whole night Hot Chip played much earlier - only a few of their own songs before they became Chaka Khan's backing band.
M.I.A. became engaged to Benjamin Brewer, son of Warner Music Chairman Edgar Bronfman, earlier this summer. In October, Rolling Stone Magazine quizzed her on a possible pregnancy after she canceled her tour, to which she responded:
"I'm kind of putting on weight. That could be it," she jokes. "I haven't made it to the counter yet to buy a test. But when I do, I'll let you know."
So far, no absolutely official report from M.I.A.'s publicists, but that massive baby bump should be proof enough.
