Sixth Harry Potter Movie Sets a New Global Sales Record

The latest movie installment in the Harry Potter franchise, "Half-Blood Prince", has set a new global opening record. The movie earned as much as 396.7 million US dollars in the first few days, starting from Wednesday. In the US and Canada, the movie earned $159.7 million and $237 million in the rest of the world.

The most selling international markets were Britain with $32.4 million, Germany with $23 million and France with $20.2 million.

It has been considered if the new movie in the franchise is going to break the 1 billion dollar milestone. The closest one has been "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone", which earned a total of $975 million.
