Skyfall: Teaser Trailer Echoes The Bourne Ultimatum

The teaser trailer for Skyfall, the newest James Bond movie, is now online. You can watch it below. As with Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, Skyfall has an old-school vibe to it.

Indeed, more old-school than Quantum, which is probably a good thing: my favorite scene in Quantum was Bond's escape from the Grand Hotel: it wasn't flashy, but tense and exciting to watch; totally sold by the look exchanged between Bond and M. Hopefully Skyfall delivers more of that.

Genre fans cannot escape the fact that this is Jason Bourne's world now, and James Bond has to re-earn his spot at the top of the spy ladder. The Skyfall teaser seems to reference this, with a rather well-done visual quote from The Bourne Ultimatum. It's not hard to spot.

The plot of Skyfall is also more Bourne than vintage Bond: MI6 faces a threat from within: "Bond's loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost." Skyfall hits British screens on October, and then jumps the pond on November 9.
