Rishikesh, 5 Apr: The two surviving Beatles, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, enthralled music lovers at a charity concert in Radio City Music Hall, New York on Saturday night. The 'Cosmicall Conscious' song by Paul had the audience in thrall. The song accompanied a slide show on the 1968 visit by the Beatles to Rishikesh and took the audience on a trip to the Uttarakhand Himalayas.
Paul McCartney used around forty photographs in his slide show.
Two time Emmy Award winner, producer-director Paul Saltzman told Garhwal Post, “Paul used 34 of my photos from my 'Beatles in Rishikesh' book for the slide show behind himself and Ringo at the charity show.”
‘Cosmically Conscious,’ is an excerpt from a hidden track on his 1993 album ‘Off the Ground.’
Paul Saltzman attended a TM course with the Beatles at the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Ashram here in 1968. Saltzman is presently participating in the Ashland Oregon Independent Film Festival in the US.
The show brought together Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr on stage after a gap of almost nine years. Organised by the David Lynch Foundation, the surviving Beatles performed on Saturday to raise funds to teach meditation techniques to 1 million 'at risk' children.
The slide show showcased the Beatles and their friends at the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Ashram. The photographs presented Paul, John, Ringo and George in Indian costumes. The slide show was an instant hit among the music lovers.
Most of the pictures used in the slide show were by Paul Saltzman, who has written two books, 'The Beatles in Rishikesh' and 'The Beatles in India' based on the 1968 tour. He conducts photographic show on the Beatles in Rishikesh worldwide. He has hosted his shows in cities like Toronto, New York, Milan, Chicago, Liverpool, London, Brighton, Bristol, Glasgow and Paris, to mention a few.
Saltzman’s most cherished dream is to host his photo exhibition in India. On this, he says, “We are planning a tour, which I will lead, called 'the Beatles in India', in February 2010. The itinerary is being worked out now. But, we have plans to host the show in Rishikesh for 3 days.”
The Beatles came to Rishikesh in 1968 to learn meditation. Among the Beatles, Ringo stayed at the Maharishi's Ashram for 10 days, Paul for 5 weeks, John and George, for 8 weeks, each.
Paul Saltzman is a Canada based filmmaker and he stayed with the Beatles in Rishikesh. He took some 72 exclusive photograph of the famous band during their stay. Paul's website 'www.TheBeatlesInIndia.com' and book 'The Beatles in Rishikesh' presents a photographic tribute to the visit of the famous band to Rishikesh. The Beatles in Rishikesh show is all set to travel in India next year.for more details go to;http://www.garhwalpost.com/index.php?mod=article&cat=Uttarakhand&article=170

Repeating my comment about the show from my earlier article:

' The concert video should be awesome and a Collector's Edition not only for Music fans but for those who have an interest in Transcendental Meditation. '

Thanks for sharing this news, Azzay. I have uploaded only one Rishikesh pic for my article, and just as well I guess. Saltzman is a legend in his own right. You can see his Beatles pics in lots of places including this German site.
