'Sluggish ticket sales,' Langerado Music Festival '09 canceled
Another knockout for the economy as promoters blame slow tickets sales for the cancellation of Langerado Music Festival 2009. The show is in its seventh years and was slated for <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 />Bicentennial Park, Miami, FL March 6-8, 2009.
Ethan Schwartz, co-promoter, explains, “Langerado has always put the fan experience first. Unfortunately, during these difficult economic times, and facing a first year in a new venue, it’s become apparent that we cannot execute a production that lives up to the high standards of our past events.’
Putting Langerado on hold was the toughest decision we have ever had to make. We are very grateful for the support of the greater-Miami community and the music community during this difficult time.”
Last years event took place in the Big Cypress Reservation, out in the Everglades, with close to 70 thousand concertgoers from around the United States and abroad. The first day of the event had cars lined for miles, with people walking down canal lined streets surrounded by wilderness. The event combined four days of concerts with camping giving what could be consider a years worth of concerts – at once with bands new and old such as: Wailers, Roots, Matisyahu, The Lee Boys, Disco Biscuits, R.E.M., The Beastie Boys and many more.
According to Madison House Publicity representing Langerado, "All tickets purchased will be refunded. Please look for ticket refunds to be processed in the next 5-7 business days. Each order will be refunded to the credit card in full, minus the included order processing fees. Shipping fees will also be credited for those orders that did not select the free shipping promotion."

Officially opening Mardi Gras the Krewe de Vieux is going to roll through the French Quarter This Saturday. Theme is "Stimulus Package". Expect to see some weird takes on pigs and pigs' ears.
