Organizers for Snowside Festival 2009 have announced that they have been forced to cancel the forthcoming event due to poor ticket sales and the weak economy.

The festival, which was to take place from March 23-29 in Nassfeld, Austria, was set to see performance by Metronomy and Infadels.

A statement posted on the festival’s website, snowside.co.uk, read:

“It is with deep regret that due to circumstances beyond our control we have been left with no other choice, Snowside 2009 is not going ahead on 23rd-29th March.

A huge effort has been maintained right throughout the campaign to successfully produce our first alpine festival however due to certain unforeseen factors including the current economic

climate, the Pound-Euro exchange rate resulting in rising costs, the knock on effect is that ticket sales have been too low.

All these factors combined have contributed towards us at Snowside having to make this very difficult decision.”

Ticket holders will be offered two options, ” get a full refund plus £10 compensation per person booked” or “we must offer you an alternative holiday of the same value”.
