NP Rank:
So You Think You Can Dance Winner 2008
Joshua Allen, the 19-year-old, untrained hip-hop dancer was crowned So You Think You Can Dance winner on Fox’s Thursday evening two-hour finale.
After two hours of fluff, which revisited Katee Shean and Joshua’s Bollywood routine, Courtney Galiano and Gav’s rumba, a performance by the Jonas Brothers and Cirque So-leil Think You Can Dance. Returning was also the amazing Robert Muraine who faced-off against popping rival Phillip Chbeeb. Judge Mary Murphy’s trademark scream also made a guest appearance.
The adorable Kat Deeley proclaimed Allen the winner after nearly 60 million votes had been cast, edging out the other untrained hip-hop dancer, 24-year-old Twitch Boss for the $100,000 prize and a part in the upcoming film, Step It Up 3-D.
When Allen was announced the So You Think You Can Dance Winner 2008 he said amongst falling confetti, “Never let anybody tell you can’t do anything. No matter what you do, you can always go far. the sky is the limit. Don’t let anybody tell you can’t do anything. Because God is the control. And with God you can do anything.”

I've been involved in the dance community for 15 years, but as a non dancer. In my opinion the best dancer on in this 2008 season was Courtney Galiano. To me she epitomized dance at it's core. In every routine she performed she became the physical manifestation of the music....and as an audience of dance, what more can you ask for.

I have to say I agree with this comment. One of the reasons I so enjoyed watching Courtney is because I could feel her performance...it wasn't just technical - she put her heart and soul into it. I really enjoyed watching her this year and wish her the best.

Well sweety i think u r a hater..that man gave more power to dance and more style then anyone this season..josh pulled off each style of dance with grace, love and rhythm..compared to everyone else they were good but apparently not the best..america voted and low and behold who won JOSH..courtney should try again on another show such as "so i thought i could dance" LOL

nirajan, I like this story. It's good stuff. I was going to post on this but you beat me to it! =)
To me, SYTYCD had seriously been a revolution in the world of dance. I had followed the program since day 1 season 1 and it just gets better every year. The dancers were challenged, the choreographers were challenged, and even the judges were challenged. It was truly a place for growth.
The finale and the results show were the best that I had seen since the history of this show. Usually the dancers have gave it their all, to the point that they are so tired and exhausted and were under-performing by the second half of the finale, but not this year. These dancers, although underperformed a little by the end of the last performance, stuck it out to the end. Even the results show was superb! Usually by the results show the performance would be danced half-heartedly since it is no longer a competition and it is the second time around that these routines were performed, but this one is not the case.
The Robert and Phillip battle was wicked, same with the Cirque du Solei performance.
All four of the finalists deserved to win, but this is determined solely by America. Joshua won for reasons that the majority of the Americas who voted could comprehend. Let's not debate about whether who should win and disrespect the other dancers.
It was a joy to see the old dancers come back. They all faired so well out in the world after the show.

Last night's show announcing the winner was pre-empted in my area (Jackson, Michigan 49201). Needless to say I was/am peeved. Will the show be aired again? If so when?
Thank you. And Congrats to the winner - he is good!

The show was great. The dance entertaining. The judges panel fun. But the camera work in this and other shows......pathetic. Too much movement. Too many close-ups. Too much was missed by the viewer. Unfortunate.

Yeah! Whats with that? I feel like I missed some of the best shots cause they were somewhere else. I am happy for the winner as he is a fantastic dancer but if we could have two winners I would have picked Courtney as well. What a performer!

Amen...I have been screaming at my TV about this on most dance shows. Obviously the producer/diorector doeesn't get that they are performing for us the viewer. When a performance is choreographed it is for centerstage. We miss the total effect of the choreography when they do the closeups and misc. This is only necessary when you have taklking heads not an exciting entertaining performance. The performance is providing the action. I am surpirsed that a sharp tack like Nigel Lithgow does not realize this!

This show was the best! I enjoyed it so much I found it difficult to vote because all four were great.
I also though Will was superb. As popular as Dancing with the Stars is, I liked this better.
The talent, the personalities, the hard work was awesome.

I was impressed with the dancers and routines this season. Katee was a superb dancer and I glad she receive 50k reward for her athletic ability. Will got cut too soon. Twitch had a fun personality and a good dancer, but Will was talented. I was pleased that Joshua received the America's favorite dancer. Good guy and deserves it. Gosh, they were all good.

I was disappointed that Fox pre-empted this show for a pre-season football game that has nothing to do with the tea in china until the season begins. So the show did not air in Chicago until 11:00 pm which would not have gotten over with till 1:00 am and when you have to work and they do not show you the winner until 5 minutes till the show ends, well it was goodnight hit the pillow, hopefully, they will air this show at a more decent hour sometime before next season.
