One of the reasons I was happy to see Gregor Robertson elected as Mayor of Vancouver is because he understands new media.  Pete Quily has done a very in depth analysis of the mayoral run and concludes that Robertson leveraged the media best.

Gregor Robertson’s campaign understood the internet, social media, and web culture much better than Peter Ladner’s did and that’s one of the many reasons he won the 2008 Vancouver civic election.

In this post I compare and contrast Gregor Robertson of Vision Vancouver and Peter Ladner of the NPA in 25 different areas involving social media websites, (Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Flickr and Friend Feed), various search engine results & web presence.

(It was also nice to see that he used a photo of the Mondo Spider in the piece.)

I recently came across Tweet Congress.  Pretty interesting. I wonder how long it will take for a Canadian version of this to happen?
