The solution to drug wars

Give up. Legalize all drugs. Prohibition and this "war on drugs" have shown that only organized crime benefits from denying mind alerting substances to citizens. There are nations which tumble into violence because of these drugs. Just make them legal. Spend the money instead of figuring out how to protect children from them -- we do not sell alcohol under a certain age and that mostly works. Spend the money on the increased health care which is likely necessary.

Stop and think -- why are these things illegal? Because they are bad for your health? That's absolutely nonsensical, there are many, many activities which ruin your health and dangerous and yet the society accepts them. That the society will need to spend more on health care? And how much less we would spend on chasing drug dealers? If crime drops -- which seems inevitable based on history -- then we have the money to treat drug addicts and then some.

Also, remember "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with inherent and inalienable rights; that among these, are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." Just looking at these, at least liberty and pursuit of happiness seems to cover free drug usage.
