As I was starting the Grassroots campaign to get Votes for my Consumed to Thrifty Panel at South by Southwest, singer Samantha Murphy got a thread going on the Pholist, the topic: Songs about Money.

I did not have a chance to jump in the conversation early, many of my first choices were taken.

I did manage to come up with a few fresh picks.

First came to mind The Beatles 'Can't buy me love'

Then I remembered an old kitch French hit titled 'L'argent ne fait pas le bonheur' (Money does not buy happiness).

Could not remember who sang that tune and found out it was a girl group from the Seventies named 'Les Parisiennes (see their clip on 'Serge the Concierge').

Any obscure suggestions of your own in English or other languages ? Share them.
