Spam Filter Response I guess? To Libs vs Neocons
IN RESPONSE TO:
I am disappointed in myself for responding to somebody on the internet, but what you're describing really sounds like most people's infatuation with politics. You are trying to simplify something that is not that simple. Neither liberals nor conservatives are not one monolithic group. These are umbrella terms, the represent what happens when a two-party system causes identities to be polarized between the two. Conservatives in my neighborhoods are not necessarily like conservatives in other neighborhoods. They may both have come from what one could call conservative households, but this doesn't mean they have some common background, that they share one defining characteristic or set thereof which determine their alignment. It's because the groups they were part of had to, in general, pick which of two parties represented them best. Your desire to put people in boxes reflects that you are still just feeling your way through this instead of reasoning. How people think about issues is more complex than "liberals get off on misery".
Now, you "feel" global warming isn't correct. You are probably one of those people that just "knows" your doctor is full of shit when they tell you to finish your antibiotics (I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that you are not a doctor). There is a difference between the the appearance of rationality and actually being rational. On global warming, I'm going to grant you your mild skepticism of a scientific community that has been studying this field closely for a long time. Maybe they are all just wrong. It would still be smart to take into account what they're saying just to be on the safe side. You should probably note that both major candidates understood the importance of people's impact on the earth's climate. That's because both candidates were smart enough to not try and be armchair scientists and say "oh the earth always goes through cycles". Really? You wanna tell me about them? Go for it champ. Tell me all about the cycles we're about to go through. How about the ones for which we don't have a record? Enlighten me. The earth is so easy to understand right? It's like a menstrual cycle or something right?
Also, what's wrong with sustainability? This can only help the United States became more free from oil and we already have the upper hand in the relevant technology and research. We win from every direction: we play it safe, power the country, provide jobs, and have a reliable, sustainable infrastructure that our country can depend on. I think some of you folks need to be able to admit that you might just have been wrong about how you thought about the environment. I understand, there's nothing too compelling about the ivory tower and Greenpeace with comparison to industry that powers the United States, but things have changed. I think most people with even a cursory knowledge of the matter will not pretend that somehow the earth will turn into a smoldering husk just from SUV's and styrofoam cups. That's not the concern, it's about the billion people that will lose their homes because they live in low altitudes, and the millions upon millions that will suffer worse and worse floods, droughts, and the accompanying disease and famine. The "Conservatives" and "Liberals" you talk about are not a cult, they are just terms. The people to whom they refer have both realized some truths, and instead of attaching yourself to some idea of the conservative ideal, you might want to just take a new look at what the actual situation is.
There are a lot of angry people out there, there is always a spectrum. You may not be crazy about them, but we should at least by quietly pleased that we have a spectrum that can exist. What is unfortunate is that in life, there are not many material bonuses along the way, but plenty of surprise obstacles. There is a reason it makes sense to err on the safe side, to worry, because what we don't know can hurt us. Our instinct as functioning living things is not to go search for all the things that surround us that make feel safe, it is to be vigilant to watch for what endanger us. And yes, the price for that is sometimes getting mad about what threatens our liberties, our health, or morality, etc. Sometimes we learn a truth that is not pleasant to look at, whose consequences seem unpleasant, but that does not mean we can ignore it. There are angry people on both sides of the fence, and these people are angry because of the things they know. This "misery" is what you get with your knowlege and it's a small price to pay. Ignorance may be bliss, but progress and improvement and doing the right thing is not meant to be blissful.
P.S. Could you please lash out against white guilt a little harder, I'm not yet convinced you're not in denial of something.

The world will continue on, how many humans will survive.... that remains to be seen.
Farting in a tornado is not usually a survivable event.
