Spider Man 4 Rumors: John Malkovich as Vulture, Anne Hathaway?

Spider Man 4 has barely even begun filming and rumors about the plot, cast, and who the featured villain will be are swirling about the abyss known as the internet.

Movieline has confirmed with sources close to the film that Raimi’s sequel is circling John Malkovich and Anne Hathaway to play Spider-Man’s adversaries, and neither evildoer is quite what you might have expected.

The most exciting rumor thus far is the casting of John Malkovich as The Vulture, the would-be lead villain in the upcoming film. Oh but the news doesn't stop there, Anne Hathaway is expected to take the role of Felicia Hardy, the alter-ego of Black Cat, a cat burgler and part-time crime fighter in the comic. But wait, there's a twist: director Sam Raimi's vision sees Felicia Hardy becoming the Vulturess, a brand new villain, in lieu of Black Cat.

Luckily Raimi recognized the overwhelming flaws of Spider Man 3 and intends to bring the series back to where it was in 2004 saying, "I hope I don't lose that edge that I've just found. That would be my approach to Spider Man 4: to get back to the basics."

"I think I've learned about the importance of getting to the point and the importance of having limitations, and I'm hoping to take that into a production where I'm actually allowed to explore with more of the tools to pull it off with a little more splendour."
