The Musical Spectacle of Spider-Man

Bono and The Edge for mega-band, U2, have spun the music and lyrics for the Spider-man Broadway musical which had a preview performance in New York City on Sunday.

The Spiderman on Broadway saw the Marvel Comics superhero, played by Reeve Carney, stranded above the theater audience, literally.

The show, which ran for more than three hours, began 24 minutes late. The end of the show's first act saw the evening's most awkward delay. Carney was supposed to soar over the audience toward a balcony across the theater, but stopped after traveling just a few yards — and stayed there, suspended above the front rows. Crew members managed to catch him by the foot, and the stage manager called intermission. The intermission lasted for more than half an hour, causing the audience to clap in unison.

The $65 million, musical version of Spiderman has been plagued by delays from the start. The team behind Spiderman: Turn Off The Dark have until January 11th to work things out - that is when the show officially opens on Broadway.
