Sport Relief charity events had those in the UK running, dancing, and active to raise money for Comic Relief efforts in support of local and international charities.

Sport Relief historically has featured everything from David Walliams’ swim across the English Channel to Eddie Izzard’s amazing marathon a day around the UK.

The Sainsbury's Sport Relief Mile asks fundraisers to do something fun and active to raise cash and help make the world of difference.

Some celebrities have taken to climbing mountain peaks, paddling rivers, or playing soccer, but individuals can invent the activity and find the sponsors as long as the proceeds go to Sport Relief.

The evening of BBC1 and BBC2 TV specials featured celebrity guests, spectacular music performances from Robbie Williams, Cheryl Cole, and Annie Lennox, as well as highlights from Masterchef, Strictly Come Dancing and other TV shows that took up the challenge.

The weekend-long event and TV special have so far raised 31 million pounds and the event promises to be an annual one every March.
