St. Louis-Area Blogger Targeted by Muslim Group

Fellow St. Louis-area blogger Gateway Pundit published a piece Tuesday about a Muslim prayer tower under construction next door to a mosque in a predominantly-Bosnian South St. Louis neighborhood. The next morning, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch published a response piece, Mosque threatened, Muslim group says, which prompted the blogger to publish a follow-up piece that began this way:

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch spins the news today for the unindicted co-conspirators in the Hamas funding case, the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

In my opinion, Gateway Pundit showed incredible restraint in his follow-up piece. In addition to noting that P-D writer Tim Townsend — and, presumably, at least one editor who reviewed his work — appears to not know the difference between a comment and a post (see paragraph four of the P-D article), he could have gotten ugly by bringing up web stats.

For instance, he could have brought up the fact that his Alexa ranking is 111,098 while the P-D’s ranking is 432,548. [Note: As in golf, a lower number is better. In this case, almost four times better!] Additionally, he could have mentioned that his blog is ranked in the Top 2,000 blogs worldwide by Technorati.com. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a comparable rating for the P-D, though I’m willing to bet it’s not among the Top 2,000 newspapers in the world.

Upon what do I base such a conclusion? Most recently, this exchange between another well-known blogger, Charles Johnson at Little Green Footballs, and P-D writer Townsend.

‘Nuff said.

Almost.  Here’s another worthwhile LGF post and a NewsBusters piece on the subject at hand.
