Whiskey in the Jar

With St. Patrick's Day upon us, here's a look at how the world is celebrating.

The US has the largest contingent of long-running St. Patrick's Day parades and events.  Famously, the the Chicago Journeymen Plumbers dye the Chicago River green each year to contribute to their cities celebrations.

Here's a list of the longest-running parades in the US with links to details on this year's parades, including routes and road closures:

    * Boston, Massachusetts, since 1737
    * New York City, since 1762 (247th Consecutive Parade in 2008)
    * Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, since 1771
    * Morristown, New Jersey, since 1780
    * New Orleans, Louisiana, since 1809
    * Buffalo, New York, since 1811
    * Savannah, Georgia, since 1813
    * Carbondale, Pennsylvania, since 1833
    * Milwaukee, Wisconsin, since 1843
    * Chicago, Illinois, since 1843
    * New Haven, Connecticut, since 1845
    * Saint Paul, Minnesota, since 1851[31]
    * San Francisco, California, since 1852
    * Scranton, Pennsylvania, since 1862
    * Cleveland, Ohio, since 1867
    * Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, since 1869[32]
    * Kansas City, Missouri, since 1873
    * Butte, Montana, since 1882
    * Rolla, Missouri, since 1908
    * Holyoke, Massachusetts, since 1951
    * Baltimore, since 1956
    * Newport, Rhode Island, since 1957
    * Denver, Colorado, since 1962
    * Las Vegas, Nevada since 1966
    * Norfolk, Virginia since 1968

All the major American cities hosting St. Patrick's Day parades.

Canada also has a long history of hosting some popular and spectacular parades

In Montreal, Quebec there has been a parade every year since 1824.  Toronto, Vancouver, and Ottawa will all host parades as well.

A country by country list of major cities hosting St. Patricks Day Parades around the world.

There is nothing more spectacular than seeing the Chicago River dyed green. If you are in Chicago for the parade, take some time to walk up Michigan Avenue and over Wacker Drive. You will be absolutely amazed to lay your eyes on this sight!

Well, as a Dubliner, I can truly attest to the fact that St Paddy's is one of the best days in the year.  Everyone comes together, celebrates, and of course, drinks copious amounts of Guinness! Wholesale Clothing
