Stephanie Courtney, the Progressive Insurance Lady Clears Up Rumors That She is Pregnant

Stephanie Courtney is best known as the Progressive Insurance Lady on TV and stars in all their commercials. Fans were curious however, when they noticed what looked to be a baby bump under Courtney's clothes, but MSMDC News spoke to Courtney and she insisted she is not pregnant.

“They put me in a very starched apron, and I’m a curvy lady, and, so, when the starched apron gets tied…” Courtney said one recent afternoon, explaining the misunderstanding that has arisen over Flo, the über-cheery and quirky sales clerk she plays in the ubiquitous commercials for Progressive Insurance.

Stephanie Courtney has become a recognizable face of the insurance company and has been staring in their commercials for about two years. Audiences have responded well to her as she's safe and reassuring and does not give the impression of the 'pushy insurance salesman'.

“She gives us a break from the day-to-day news—and there’s not a lot of good news out there,” said Bill Cowen, the PR program director at Villanova University. “Anything that gives us a moment to make us laugh, make us smile… That really resonates.

When she is not on TV Courtney is a member of the group The Groundlings, which is a comedy group based in LA.
