Stephen Colbert to Challenge Jon Stewart 'Rally to Restore Sanity' with 'March to Keep Fear Alive'.

Not to be upstaged by his late-night comedy rival's Million Moderate March, Stephen Colbert announced the March to Keep Fear Alive.

Jon Stewart had  announced his own rally on the Jon Stewart Show. Jon Stewart's Rally to Restore Sanity" will take place on October 30 on Washington, D.C.'s National Mall. Stephen Colbert vowed to protect the flame of truthiness, battling Jon Stewart's appeals to common sense.

Fear vs Reason

Said Colbert, "No! I will not take it down a notch! I will notch it up a scotch!" Both events are digs at Glenn Beck's "Rally to Restore Honor", widely seen as a publicity grab by the conservative commentator. Jon Stewart's rally announcement as well as Stephen Colbert's march announcement can be seen on Comedy Central, if you're in the US.

NowPublic contributor YankeeJim will be on the scene

So that's it folks. As suspected, Jon and Stephen are taking on Glenn Beck, Crazy Lefties, and anyone who cares just a bit too much. Stay tuned here for the latest updates. Let's get a Canadian crew down there in DC. Road trip?

Tactically smart,  quick-witted  and  clever,  bold beyond belief,  he's truthy-it's proofy!  Stephen Colbert - your time has finally come!  So sad - so sad that those who whine the loudest and in the most arrogant and annoying ways, are also the ones who refuse to allow themselves to spend any time learning what being American really means.  Humor will win out!  But, only if you GET it!   RALLY ON,  JON and STEPHEN ! ! !
