It has been announced that Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin will co-host the 82nd Oscars taking place on March 7, 2010.

Steve Martin has hosted the Oscars in the past, while Alec Baldwin has never.

The organizers think that the duo will be a fresh approach to the sometimes boring award ceremony.

Martin, who previously hosted the 73rd and 75th Oscar shows, said: “I am happy to co-host the Oscars with my enemy Alec Baldwin.” Baldwin, himself a previous Oscar nominee in 2003 for The Cooler, added: “I don’t play the banjo but I’m thrilled to be hosting the Oscars – it’s the opportunity of a lifetime.”

I think that this choice is a sign of desperation or a failure to make a decision. Desperation stems from the notion that someone thinks they need two hosts to liven things up. Failure to make a decision, and albeit the right one, is failure to select Steve Martin. Alec Baldwin is a bore.
