Here we will list our top five stuffing recipes for your Thanksgiving turkey (click on the links to access the directions for making the stuffing).

World's Best Cornbread Stuffing:

  • 2 hot Italian sausages
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 cup chopped carrot
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • Kosher salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 bunch fresh sage, leaves chopped
  • 4 large corn muffins
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup, chicken stock, plus more if needed
  • Nonstick cooking spray

  • Caramelized Onion and Apple Stuffing:

    This stuffing is a bit sweet and a bit savory and the flavor of the apple enhances the turkey (or goose if you prefer).

    1/4 cup (50 mL) butter
    3 cups (750 mL) thinly sliced onions
    1/2 tsp (2 mL) each salt and pepper
    2 cups (500 mL) sliced celery
    3 Golden delicious apples, peeled and chopped
    2 tsp (10 mL) dried sage
    1 tsp (5 mL) caraway seeds
    8 cups (2 L) cubed day-old marble rye bread (or 4 cups/1 L each cubed light rye and pumpernickel)
    1 cup (250 mL) goose stock or sodium-reduced chicken stock
    1/2 cup (125 mL) chopped fresh parsley

    Mom's Turkey Stuffing Recipe:

    This recipe is a classic stuffing for your turkey, so if you don't want anything too fancy this is the way to go:

  • 1 loaf of day old French bread, cut into 3/4-inch cubes (about 10-12 cups)
  • 1 cup walnuts
  • 2 cups each, chopped onion and celery
  • 6 Tbsp butter
  • 1 green apple, peeled, cored, chopped
  • 3/4 cup of currants or raisins
  • Several (5 to 10) chopped green olives (martini olives, the ones with the pimento)
  • Stock from the turkey giblets (1 cup to 2 cups) (can substitute chicken stock)
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon poultry seasoning or ground sage (to taste)
  • Salt and freshly ground pepper (to taste)
  • Basic Bread Stuffing for your Turkey:

    This one is even less fancy than the one above, but it's easy and it tates delicious:

  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onions
  • 1/2 cup chopped celery
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 4 cups bread cubes
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon ground sage
  • 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon poultry seasoning
  • turkey or chicken broth

  • Cranberry and Pecan Stuffing Recipe:

    This one just is perfect to add some sweetness and tartness from the cranberries, and a nut base from the pecans.

  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup margarine or butter
  • 1 teaspoon dried sage, crushed
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme, crushed
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 6 cups dry bread cubes
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or hazelnuts
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 to 2 Tablespoons chicken broth (optional)
