Going out
I have a closet filled with suits, dress shirts, hundreds of ties, sport jackets and shoes. It is unlikely that I will wear any of that stuff anytime soon because I don’t dress up. I went on a business call one Friday and they said, don’t come dressed up because it’s dress down Friday. Dress-down Fridays have been in vogue since the 1980’s, so that’s nothing new.
If Friday was a dress down day, then why not Monday? What about hump day, Wednesday? How about making all days dress down days?
I got a catalog in the mail today from Macy’s featuring the same male model in different leisure attire across two pages. In every pose, the guy is wearing shoes with untied laces. Furthermore, he isn’t wearing socks. That can’t be good for Macy’s sock sales.
Last year, men were wearing footies that only women used to wear, you know, those half socks.
I became accustomed too them because on hot days it is nice to have open ankles. I still want socks in my shoes for absorption. If people adopt the no-sock style, a whole bunch of folks are going to have blisters and that is good for Band-Aid sales.
Since we are still in a recessed or depressed economy, saving money by not having to buy socks is a good thing so long as you are not specializing in that type of retail business.
Anyway, I am not going to the department story anytime soon because I have enough clothing now to last the rest of my life. When things wear out, I throw them away. I don’t replace a thing. So, my lifecycle will last as long as there is something left to wear in my closet and drawers.
I wonder at what point I will be going out of style?

Fashion is not complete if don't have socks. Socks help your feet be protected. Anyway love your suits.
