This year's 2008 Sundance Film Festival has drawn to a close and the winners have just been announced. Although a mumblecore feature took home the audience prize, I'm personally excited to check out the Patti Smith doc 'Dream of Life' - and anything entitled 'King of Ping Pong (Ping Pongkingen) is bound to be good.

Leading this year’s awards were Courtney Hunt’s “Frozen River”, a drama about women helping illegal aliens enter the U.S., and Jonathan Levine’s “The Wackness”, a comedy about a teenage dope dealer in mid-’90’s New York. “Frozen River” took hope the grand jury prize, while “The Wackness” snagged the audience prize.

Sundance 2008 trailer. Snapped before the screening of the Grand Jury Prize - Dramatic winner, Frozen River. I was there representing Tampa Theatre, a 1926 movie palace that hosts indie and classic films, concerts, education programs and special events. Tampa Theatre was chosen by LIFE Magazine as one of "America's 21 Wonders" and is the most wondrous theater on the planet. www.tampatheatre.org

The New Fronteir space was one a place of refreshing innovation --as well as a sea of relative tranquility amidst the pandemonium of the festival.
