Survivor's Greatest Villains

Russell Hantz of Survivor: Samoa is claiming to be the 'best Survivor villain' ever, but what about some of the Survivor villains that have come before him?

NowPublic looks at the top 5 Survivor Villains - if you think we have missed any let us know below!

1. Johnny Fairplay:

Real name, Jon Dalton, Fairplay appeared on Survivor: Pearl Islands and then again on Survivor: Micronesia

He constructed what has been called 'the greatest lie in Survivor history' when he got his friend to tell him that his grandmother had died and everyone felt so sorry for him. Many have called him 'despicable' after that. Jeff Probst called him a 'jackass'.

"There’s a reason that Micronesia is the 40th different television show I’ve done," he said.  "People like these kinds of characters. I embrace the bad guy kind of role, I love it."  In fact, he loves it so much that he is legally changing his name to Jonny Fairplay.

2. Coach Ben Wade:

Also known as 'the Dragon Slayer', Coach Ben Wade was hated when he appeared on Survivor: Tocantins. He took lying to a whole new level when he claimed some outrageous things about himself. He claimed that he was the only person in the US who was taught some obscure Chinese martial arts, but to everyone else it looked like tai chi.

He said he was a direct descendent of Pocahontas, and he met Tom Hanks at a party and was an inspiration for the movie Cast Away. He also said he set the world record for kayaking, 6,000 plus miles, but yet he has no mention in the Guinness Book of World Records.

3. Richard Hatch:

Winner of the first ever Survivor: Borneo, Hatch was the first survivor contestant to instigate the cheating and lying about voting alliances, and became quite hated due to the way he played both sides. He was accused of being cocky and 'overall evil'. Contestant Susan Hawk famously compared Hatch to a snake and that she was only voting for him because the rat eats the snake, which was Kelly Wiglesorth, who Hawk also hated.

He also was naked a lot, which many people hated.

4. Jerri Lynn Manthey:

Although not as villainous as the others perhaps, Jerri was one of those contestants that everyone loved to hate. Most notably she ratted out Kel for smuggling some jerky in to the outback, which did not earn her any favors with the rest of the cast of Survivor: Outback.

She got in to many conflicts with the rest of the cast and was rather argumentative, which seemed to get on many peoples' nerves.

5. Russell Hantz?

It's still too early to tell, but Russell Hantz is promising to deliver the goods to be the 'best Survivor villain' so we'll have to wait and see. He might just take the title with the way he's promising to sabotage his own tribe.

Russell is the perfect representative for the oil industry, one of the most unethical industries on the planet.  His character is right in line with companies that cooperate with murderous regimes in pursuit of the all mighty dollar.  Russell is a despicable pathetic human being.  Winning is one thing but winning with malice is quite another.

Pebbles Flintstone

My problem with the trend of all reality shows is the mistakn belief that if you are over 30 you are useless, weak and stupid. This is getting annoying. Having a toxic person like Russell on Survivor establishes a game within the game. He is running his own game, trying to control the minds of his team. The two women he arranged to have voted out were on to him. His team is crumbling and he is a gloating jackass. Do they not have these contestants psych tested before they are chosen? Good luck to the remaining victims. I hope somebody figures him out before someone gets hurt.
