The Taste Brings Stress Relief to Denver

    The flava of the 25th Taste of Colorado once again fuses food, music and fun together into the last big party of summer in Civic Center Park. A pleasing, welcoming end to a week where the world was dead centered on Downtown Denver as history was being made. Yet, life returned to normal in the Mile High City and you only have to look up, at lamp posts to see the remains of the DNCircus.

   The air, no longer filled with sounds of voices of protest, no storm troopers in the streets, and the only roads blocked off are the ones filled with happy Coloradoans. Gone are the celebrity sights, the mass of humanity filling the 16th street mall, and the lock downs at some business.  All replaced with the sounds of Herman’s Hermit’s, Jon Waite and Heidi Newfield. Add to this the smells of culinary, gourmet dishes, and savors offerings of the state’s favorite food establishments. The Taste continues its rich tradition of providing the best food and entertainment everyone to enjoy.   

 

    Still, for those who are still in town after the DNCircus, the Taste offers an arts and crafts marketplace that features a variety of unique creations from regional and national artisans, as well as imports from around the world. This boutique-style, open air shopping experience, allows festival goers to explore home and gift ideas, furniture, jewelry, clothing, gourmet edibles, and more.

 

   The DNCircus focused the eyes of the world on Denver as the center of the political world for a few days. Highlighted by a Colorado man suspected of making racist threats against Senator Barack Obama, police in riot gear on the streets, and being the site of the first African American to be nominated for president, one would think that the city would be dealing with an image crisis, trying to down play those events. It is, as the Taste is showing, life in the Mile High City goes on and the best that Denver and Colorado as a whole has to offer the world, is not what you always see on the news.
