TATTOO GIRL LIED.
A teenage girl who claimed 56 stars were tattooed on her face as she slept when she'd only asked for three has admitted she was awake the whole time - and lied because her father was 'furious'.
Belgian Kimberley Vlaminck said last week she woke up in horror to find her face covered in the stars of various sizes which spread out over the left-hand side of her head.
She went on to blame the Flemish-speaking tattooist for not being able to understand her French and English instructions.source.......Daily Mail.
She lied, because she was frightened from her fathers reaction to the sight he faced on his beautiful daughters face.
Most parents are at some time surprised by things their kids do as teens, and some do some real whacky stuff on a whim. This poor girl has just learned that to be spontanious in artistic interpretation, can turn out to be a nightmare. How awful must this wee soul feel I wonder. No doubt she will now get laser treatment to remove them, but not at the expense of the tattoo artist she blatently lied about. He hasnt been ruined for the publicity will only advertise his shop. Hope this will serve as a lesson to any young woman thinking of distorted her face on a artistic whim.

Jazzy, this story is interesting, but do you think you could use the highlight tool to quote other news sources? Thanks.

Did anybody really believe that she could sleep through 56 facial tattoos?
at 08:54 on June 23rd, 2009
I did when I first read about it, tho you have a very fair point, Jordan I never thought about that.
A needle pounding in and out of ones face is bound to keep you awake, unless she was very drunk. Thanks for commenting.

Well, if she really wanted the body art on her face, that's her call. She doesn't seem to have regretted the tattoo for its own sake, but for her family's reactions to it. Whether it's distortion or art/beautification is subjective. And of course you mean a lesson to any young man, too, right? Unless it really is just a woman's responsibility to keep herself pretty and "normal" for the sake of the world's eyes rather than her own...

Thanks for the news, Jazzy. I wonder if she is over 18. I hope kids need to present proof of age before they can drastically alter their appearance, and I do mean "drastically"! The poor baby might just wake up one day and wish she really was dreaming.
To everyone's surprise, my nephew got a BIG tatoo on his forearm one day. My son wanted one, too, until they went to a job interview together a few weeks later. My nephew was rejected outright and told that he did not fit the "clean-cut image" for the amusement park because of his tatoo, and my son was hired. He did not admire his cousin's tatoo much after that. We never had another discussion about ear-piercing and tatoos.
For many career choices, tatoos don't matter. But young people may not have decided their career paths yet, so tatoos should be limited to grown-ups. Even then, it is wiser to put them on body parts that don't show when one is dressed for business - not the face!

I dont think people should be discriminated for how they look, each to their own choice. But to mar ones face is like advertising their look.

If she likes how it looks, what right does anyone else have to tell her to get them removed? If she doesn't want to get them lasered off then her father shouldn't force her. She shouldn't have to conform to his ideas of what a person should be, or anyone elses for that matter. Live and let live, afterall.

Tattoos are a fashion - fashions change. Having a tatoo is like having "loon" flares grafted onto your legs in the 1970's, so you are stuck with them forever. I know the girl was 18 but I still think the tattooist should have refused to do it. Just because something is legal and you can get away with it, doesn't mean you should do it. Teenagers don't imagine themselves aged 30,40,50,70. It obviously didn't occur to her that she might not want her face covered in black stars forever - but it should have occurred to him.

I wonder how strange things people can do in their teens. Parents must be extra cautious about what their kids are doing in order to avoid regretting.
