Tears mixed with anger & hurt due to abuse of government power
Ms. Tzu-Han, Chao, an alumnus of National Cheng-Chi University, who just comes back from 63rd DPI/NGO Annual Conference in Melbourne, Australia, faced a mixed feeling in Taiwan. Couple days ago, when still in Melbourne, promoting love and peace with hundreds of NGO friends and organizations, she heard that Taiwan Tax Administration is going to put Tai Ji Men Qigong Academy on auction for the enforcement of unjust tax payment notice. She questions that when Taiwan is isolated by the international communities, Tai Ji Men has brought Taiwan to the world for passing decades. The reason we strive to make Taiwan visible to international community is not for the fame, but for love for our country. In July 13, 2007, Tai Ji Men unjust case has been ruled no guilty on all three court trials after spending 10 years and 7 months. However today, the tax administration still insists on issuing the unjust tax bill against Tai Ji Men. Where is the rule of law in Taiwan?
In the press conference on September 12, when Tze-Han, Chao sees her old grandmother who spends nearly 3 hours comes all the way from Taichung to Taipei, she feels truly sad, and hugs her grandma in tears. She said “friends from all walks of life who have ever seen the performances of elder dizi are deeply touched by their happiness and health. I can never imagine today that Tai Ji Men will face this unjust treatment from tax administration to auction off its property. Even our elder dizi of grandmothers and grandfathers have to stand up to protect our home-Tai Ji Men. Seeing this situation really breaks my heart!” She further mentions that “I practice Tai Ji Men qigong and cultivate my heart from my Shifu since 12 years old. My Shifu has taught us to respect and love our elders. But today, the unjust practice from Tax Administration has made them unease. I feel that I have not done well as her granddaughter.”
Dr. Hong Tao-Tze, the Zhang-me-ren of Tai Ji Men Qigong Academy has always taught his dizi to love the country and everyone in this world. According to Chao, when attending NGO annual conference, Tai Ji Men dizi promotes Chinese culture to international friends proudly. Without the efforts from Tai Ji Men, Taiwan has become an invisible country in the international society. Seeing the elder Tai Ji Men dizi suffering from losing the academies because of the unjust tax bill, every Tai Ji Men dizi determine to protect their Academy and the smiles of every dizi. Ms. Chao hopes that all the elder dizis can return to the happy days like before, and enjoy their senior life in Tai Ji Men.
Their tears mixed with the anger and hurt. They can never understand why tax authority can keep on issuing the unjust tax bill for 14 years. Her grandma said that Tai Ji Men never has the tax problem since it is not a cram school. How can tax administration never listen to us, and still ask to auction off our property for its unjust tax bill. We should be happily practicing qigong here, but today, we are here with our hearts broken and crying.
Last year, President Ma has signed the two international covenants into the law, hoping to bring Taiwan human rights protection to the international standard. Tai Ji Men dizis are also Taiwanese citizens and their human rights should be protected. In the recent news of sexually abuse case of the young girl, President Ma responds that he is also a father of 2 daughters. He understands people’s pain. Tzu-Han, Chao wishes President Ma can also feel the pain of Tai Ji Men dizi and take a serious look on Taiwan tax and judicial system. “Please do not let your daughter, or granddaughter to grow up like me under the abuse of tax and judicial system. Do my grandmother and I have any right to keep our home?”
