In the spirit of the upcoming Tet, Asiana Travel Mate (ATM ) is giving freely out 5,000 booklets of postcards and launching many “Tet Specials” packages for travellers to enjoy Tet thoroughly.
These days, the word “Tet” is mentioned quite often in many conversations. For tourists who visit Vietnam for the first time, the word might sound foreign, yet those who have been living here for a while or have done a decent research about Vietnam will know “Tet” is one of the biggest festivals of the country.
Tet is celebrated on the same day as Chinese New Year and takes place from the first day of the first month until the third day of the Chinese calendar. There are many customs practiced during Tet, like visiting a person's house on the first day of the New Year, ancestral worshipping, wishing New Year's greetings, giving lucky money to children and old people and opening a shop. Tet is also an occasion for pilgrims and family reunions. During Tet, Vietnamese visit their relatives and temples, forgetting about the troubles of the past year and hoping for a better upcoming year.
