NP Rank:
Thai Police Not Ruling Out Murder in David Carradine's Death
Was David Carradine Murdered?
The circumstances behind David Carradine's death are so unusual that Thai police on Friday announced they were not ruling out foul play in the actor's demise. This has naturally led to widespread speculation about whether Carradine was murdered, died accidentally or committed suicide.
The body of 72-year-old Carradine was found Thursday morning in the closet of his suite, with his neck bound to his privates and his hands tied. Forensic experts say he died of suffocation, and hospital staff said there were no signs of struggle or murder.
Thai police on Friday refused to rule out the possibility of foul play in the death of US actor David Carradine, whose body was found in his Bangkok hotel closet the previous day in what forensic experts described as an 'abnormal' death scene.'We haven't excluded any possibilities,' said Police Colonel Thavachai Maekprasertsuk, deputy director of the police forensic institute.
Carradine, 72, was found naked in a closet in an upscale Bangkok hotel on Thursday with cords around his neck and his genitals. The police are checking DNA found on the cords, but say they found no signs of a struggle, suggesting that Carradine might have either tied himself up or submitted voluntarily to his incapacitation.
NowPublic editor Jordan posted about the original story on Thursday:
David Carradine, an actor loved by audiences in the TV series Kung Fu, as well as recent comeback roles in Kill Bill Vol. 1 & 2 and Crank: High Voltage, was found hung in the closet of his hotel room at the Swissotel Nai Lert Park in Bangkok, where he was shooting a new film. While the initial police theory was suicide, Carradine's representative said that the actor's death was accidental.
NP editor Tina Kells posted a story that looked at the manner in which Carradine died:
So how did David Carradine die? How did the Kill Bill bad guy end up hanging dead and naked in his Bangkok hotel room mere days after arriving in Thailand to begin filming a new movie, Stretch?
