The Thanksgiving period is even busier for traveling than the Christmas period, and at this time of year everyone who is driving or flying wants to know what the weather is going to be like for their journey.

In the northeast more snow is expected to fall, while California will get rain, but the areas in the east that have already had a dump of snow should get ready to expect another one as it's only going to get colder. A storm is expected to hit California tonight and then taper off by Wednesday as the showers move further east. In the Rockies, expect snow showers.

A weather system moving from the Gulf Coast to the Midwest and then the East will bring with it rain and snow depending on the temperature, and this is expected to last through till Thursday.

In the area of the Great Lakes heavy snow is expected to fall and some areas such as northwestern Pennsylvania and western New York could see an accumulation of a few feet. Snow is also expected to fall in the Appalachians by Wednesday afternoon.

The Interstate 95 corridor, which will be very busy due to people driving, is expecting some snow and rain.

AAA estimates that roughly 41 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more from home this Thanksgiving, down 1.4 percent from last year. A drop in the Thanksgiving holiday travel would be the first since 2002, and this year's fourth-consecutive travel holiday with a decline from 2007.
