There's a funny story

After arriving back in Marseille for my last night in France, I found myself homeless since every room in town was booked for the world cup of rugby. (yes, poor planning on my part).
So, I dragged my luggage to a sidewalk bar , sat down and ordered a Pastisse. Within moments of my arrival, the gent on the right came strolling up the street, robustly singing French rugby songs. (Much to the delight of the few folks gathered around the wee bar.)
A woman shouted for him to be quiet from an upstairs apartment and he responded by serenading her, eliciting gales of laughter from myself and everyone in ear shot.
Before long, we were all sitting around the same table, drinking and smoking (my first cigarette in four years) and conversing in a mumble jumble of French, Spanish, and English.
The fellow on the left is from Turkey and just started a business in Cannes. I'm not absolutely certain, but I think I have a place to stay if I'm ever in the area.

After smoking and drinking for several hours, we were joined by two Irish IT dudes, in town for the rugby match. We discussed the difference between the French and Canadian work ethics (I kind of like the way the French insist on holiday time and long lunches) and the joys of sidewalk cafes. When they heard of my plight, they invited me to spend my last four hours in France on the spare bed in their hotel right across the street.
Sometimes, the world just makes sense. This was one of those nights.
