"Woody Allen Jesus": Tim Minchin Performance Cut by ITV

Musician and comedian Tim Minchin performed his new holiday song "Woody Allen Jesus" on the Jonathan Ross Show, but ITV boss Peter Fincham ordered the segment to be cut.

Jonathan Ross and his producers knew exactly what Tim Minchin was going to perform, and all agreed that the song was funny and gentle. However, someone (Minchin doesn't know who) sent the tape to Peter Fincham, who runs ITV, the channel on which Jonathan Ross airs.

Fincham ordered the "Woody Allen Jesus" segment cut. Said Minchin, "I’m really fucking disappointed."

He did this because he’s scared of the ranty, shit-stirring, right-wing press, and of the small minority of Brits who believe they have a right to go through life protected from anything that challenges them in any way.

Perhaps unbeknownst to Fincham, Tim Minchin already had a copy of the footage, and now it's on YouTube. There's a lesson to be learned here.

(If Tim Minchin's name isn't familiar, you may have seen the animated version of his skeptic-beat poem "Storm".
