It was that time of the year again when millions have gathered in front of their TV screens not for football or so hated ash cloud but for Eurovision. And as never before it was rather interesting.

Interesting in many ways I have to admit. But first things first.

Even short with time but have squeezed some time to go through all the participant songs. And at least eight have appeared on my desktop in a short time. There was what to choose from and what not to.

And for a long time there been more to like rather than dislike.

But despite gaining some quality Eurovision still hasn't got it's name back. Couple year ago talks been going on that the song contest lost it's purpose – to bring Europe together and just have a good time watching the final result. And despite I was one of those people talking about the dark days for the contest but at least this year been rather decent.

Decent in the strength of the songs. Not one or two that would lead the competition but at least five. Well, from my point of view.

But despite quality have rose the length of the competition got even longer. And that's one of the biggest disadvantages for the Eurovison. It's too long.

More than three hours and one of them been spent only for voting. That doesn't make any sense.

It's good when you know who voted for who but watching the same thing over and over again, if to be exact, for 39 times, gets rather boring and annoying. This should and could be changed for the future.

There are things that should be changed and something new to be brought to the competition. The contest should be fresh and crisp each year and by moving to new winner country each year won't work from now.

But if to go away from what should and could be changed for the contest itself, we have gathered for the songs.

Despite talks that recession is over and despite the fact that Europe is falling apart a rather united 'don't make big show' deal been made.

Most of the contestants kept it simple. And it worked out. Well, worked for me and maybe haven't for some of you. It was nice to see contestants representing their countries with a song and not a show.

Despite the fact that one or two beloved songs haven't made to the final I was rather happy with what have done it.

And, it wouldn't be Eurovision, if countries wouldn't vote for neighbours and just turn all the expectations upside-down.

Personally don't know if there was a clear predicted winner. But am really happy with Germany being on the top spot. Lena with her Satellite have deserved the top spot. And other strong songs did rather well.

Despite the contest still being a rather home party program but hope you have watched it. It was one of the strongest competitions in years. And hope that Germany will make the 2011 Eurovision even better and more interesting. In any way by any meaning.
