Tom Brokaw Involved in Fatal Car Accident, Unhurt
Former NBC news anchor Tom Brokaw was involved in a fatal 3-car accident earlier today around 12:57 p.m. in the Bronx, NY. Brokaw and his wife, Meredith, were unhurt while Suejas Estrada, the woman in one of the other cars involved was unfortunately killed.
In a statement issued through NBC, Mr. Brokaw, 69, said that he was in the highway’s left lane when the Ford S.U.V. “came up fast,” trying to avoid a spool of cable bouncing in the right lane. The Expedition veered left, forcing a Postal Service truck in the center lane into the left lane ahead of Mr. Brokaw’s wagon.
Police stated that the northbound Expedition hit the mail truck, throwing Estrada through the driver's side window and causing major traffic backups for several hours on the Sheridan Expressway.
In Brokaw's statement he explained, “as the mail truck careened into the Brokaw lane, Tom hit the brakes hard and skidded along the median,” he continuted, “when the mail truck catapulted the median, the Brokaw vehicle slid into it.”
Investigators believe the accident was caused by debris strewn about the northbound lanes of the Bruckner Expressway. The apparent spool of wire has yet to be found as of Friday evening.

Without the celebrity involvement, the story is that debris on the highway is a hazard. Did you ever wonder, from where does all that debris come?
Just follow a garbage truck to get the answer, and watch out for all of that stuff flying about.

The roads around New York city are brutal...Bruckner Expressway, among them. Though it is sad that one person died, I'm relieved that retired broadcaster Tom Brokaw and his wife were unhurt in the accident.
