Tom DeLay Expected Leave 'Dancing With The Stars' Due to Injury
Tom DeLay, the former Republican congressman and controversial dancing star, is expected to announce on tonight's results show that he will be leaving the ninth season of Dancing With The Stars citing foot injuries as the reasoning. During rehearsals with his partner Cheryl Burke the former House Majority Leader danced his way to a pre-stress fracture which he tweeted about saying,
Old age is catching up to me, may have a stress fracture in my foot. no worries, it'll take more than that to keep me off the dance floor!
Despite his doctor's warning DeLay performed the samba on last night's show while he was stricken with stress fractures in both of his feet. The born-again Christian, right-winger talked of podiatary issues from the start of the competition.
"They put me in Latin shoes with high heels, and my toes almost fell off the first week, so I went to a podiatrist, and I got a little problem with my feet. A cortisone shot cured me up."
DeLay's performances have been plagued with issues stemming from his stress fractures; receiving praise from the judges for his determination but not quite enough to make up for his compromised dances, landing him on the second-to-last position on the leader board.
So catch Dancing With The Stars results show tonight at 9 p.m. on ABC to see if DeLay will really hang up his dancing shoes and leave the show.
