Tonex Comes Out the Closet: Gospel Singer Admits He's Gay

Gospel singer Tonex has been dodging accusations that he was gay since 2007, but not he has willingly come out of the closet. Outed in 2007 by MediaTakeOut and others Tonex denied that he was gay. The gospel singer was afraid to tell the truth about being gay for the sake of his career - openly gay gospel singers aren't exactly in high demand. However, two years after the story first broke Tonex has finally come out of the closet with pride. Good for you Tonex!

THE DEVIL IS A LIAR & THE FATHER OF LIES!!! and I am praying for that young brother, because I believe that he knows that what he is saying does NOT line up with the Word of God and he does not really believe that God is pleased with his choices. He is indeed struggling with a lot of things. He needs prayer and he needs deliverance. I don't know him personally but I know that he has a gift from God and Satan who is lowly and powerLESS (amongst other things), is trying to steal his testimony and separate him from his Heavenly Father. I am praying for him and whomever is reading this should do the same.

I agree 100% I think we should all be praying for this young man and the others who have fallen victim to the seducing spirits that have invaded the church in these last days. I think you are right about him knowing that God is not pleased with that lifestyle and that is made clear by the way he's trying to dodge the questions being asked. He basically dismissed the idea of same sex marriage, while simultaneously condoning "monogamous" gay relationships as long as the participants are under some "covenant." This is totally irreverent and irrelevant since any such "covenant" would be man-made, flesh-born, and not honored or sanctioned by God. There are so many scriptures that speak of God's indignation toward homosexuality that no one can just explain them away, alter them with liberal textural criticisms, or just ignore them because they are inconvenient. I have been involved in deliverance ministry for a number of years and I have HEARD demons of homosexuality laugh and curse after being discovered...only to shriek in fear at the fact that they had to come out in Jesus' name!!! I cannot say that ALL cases of homosexuality is demonically driven, but whatever the cause people should seek to be set free, not become comfortable in their chains and then make believe that God is cool with it. We should expose sin where it is, LOVE the person, pray with them, cry with them, accept THEM, while vehemently rejecting sin and pursuing holiness (theirs and our own) each and every day. The devil IS a liar. Jesus is coming back for a spotless church. Read Matt 25:1-13...not everyone who is called Christian IS Christian. Showing up in church does not necessarily mean that someone is IN the kingdom.

Tonex...THANK YOU. Everyone who thinks he's going straight to hell...PLEASE hear me out. I am a woman...one of those "Holy Ghost filled, fire baptized people" that Tonex talked about in part 3. And I truly believe I was born gay. I was raised in the Pentecostal, Apolstolic, Jesus-only....ALL OF THAT. I am NOT "out of the closet" and I don't 'look like' one...but I have been dying inside for years. I have been in dozens of prayer lines with my "unspoken request" to be free of this thing. I've contemplated suicide more than once. But I love the Lord so much, since I was a young girl. He's everything to me. I want to serve Him with all my heart. I melt at the mention of His name. I could never take the life He gave me. So I searched for "help" in ministries I've been a part of, but the black church just doesn't seem to want to help. I've just been told..."it's an abomination! Just let it go and continue on with your calling". Just let it go?!?! How?! If it was that easy for people like myself and Tonex, don't you think we would have done it by now? HELP US! Help the ones who ask, or who "seem" to be 'that way'...with counseling--not just oil, a prayer, or some kind of exorcism. If you don't have it available in your church, stick with that person until they find a resource, if they really want to deal with it. Counsel us without judging us! Quit telling us to just get over it! Be Christ-like, Christians!! This is a powerful thing and you're probably going to hear more & more about it than ever before, because we're TIRED. Hiding it is a full time job. Those who feel trapped need your 'unconditional loving' help! Are you afraid that you'll be infected with "gayness" if you help us?! I'm an anointed singer on a praise team and I've witnessed the power of the Holy Ghost minister through me to hundreds of people, as they cried their way to the altar...and were delivered! I would not deliberately be this way so that I could defy God...I'm terrified of hell! But I don't know what else to do but be myself. Regardless of all the prayers (in tongues!), fasting I've done, and all of the Word that I am FULL of, it is still there. Worrying about this issue in my life...fear that I'll be struck by lightening while I cross the street...it has been an exhausting form of bondage for far too long. Then the 'weight' of being judged by my Christian brothers & sisters on top of that...its just too much. I'm in my 40's now. And like Tonex mentioned in the interview, I'm beginning to believe that this is just who I am...I'm tired of loathing myself. It doesn't seem right to think that He's ignored all my prayers on this issue. What if His answer is that He wants me to let go of the fear and be who I really am? What if Romans, and other books that mention this, were misunderstood? Think about the time back then, when the Bible was written/translated. Anyway, be a help to us...love us...please. Because what is unfortunately gonna end up happening, is that gay Christians who are rejected by the Christian church, are going to turn to other religions that will help instead of judge--help them out of it, or through it. How do I know this? I've met others in my same boat who have already made the switch, and I'm ashamed to say that I almost did, too.

you are just full of your self about dying inside for years. you are filled with the spirit of homosexuality it was just exposed. the bible did say that false prophets will be expose and you are one of them. your pretence is over. you know your like style is not right in the sight of God. brother sin is sin and homosexuality is a sin. you might like it but your life style is wrong. stop pretending that God accepts this life style remember you will stand before the judgement throne and gave an account for your actions. the only person you are fooling about this being right is yourself. Repent of your sins and turn from your wicked ways. God will forgave but you have to repent and confess your sins. repent means to turn around and stop sinning. when Jesus met the women at the well Jesus told her to go and sin no more. no more means to stop doing it. stop fooling your self when you lay on your dying bed will you be ready to meet your master. who is your master Tonex that is who you will met. your master is the one you serve. God allow you to expose yourself because it is separation time. he is coming again and only those who are ready will go with him. are you ready to go? if he comes and you are lying in bed with a man or commiting any other sin will he say come with me? when death comes will you be ready? will you call for that homosexual,fornicating, adulterous pastor etc. to pray with you while you are on your dying bed think about it. you are still alive and have a chance to repent. you don't even know if you will get the chance to repent. just as the serpent has fooled Eve it has decieved you. let the truth of God word set you free and stop trying to contradict the bible because Gods word cannot be compromise either you recieve salvation or you stray away from the word. i am only speaking the truth so rexamine your self and allow the holy spirit to guide you and not people who are living a compromise life style. regardless of whether they are a bishop or what ever but they will be judged harshly because they knew the truth. rememeber we all have to stand before God and gave an account for the deeds done in our life.

Tina D., I sympathize with your concerns. I am not homosexual so I cannot begin to understand the struggle that you have been through. However, I do feel that the black church should not just tell you to get over it and send you on your way. A reason for that could be that honestly, we don't know what to do, and in us no admitting we don't know, we set people such as yourselves and Tonex to deal with it by yourself. Yet in essence, no man nor woman should be left alone to fend for themselves. In fact, Jesus and faith in the Spirit has been totally taken out of the equation. The devil would have people believe that homosexuality is a sin that one cannot be delivered from. It is seen in the media as it is quickly being accepted into popular culture, and this spirit of sexual perversion grows stronger. We must recognize these spiritual forces at work since "we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of hthe darkness of this age, against spritual hosts of wickedness in heavenly places"(Ephesians 6:12). We must also recognize since we are of the flesh that everyone is prone to the same struggles as the next. Even if we feel naturally inclined to be one way we could easily go another route since the flesh is not designed to serve God. Also, we must understand that following Him is not going to be easy. In fact, our walk is only made harder, since the enemy realizes that an anointing has been put on your life. While spiritually we may be in a better place with Him, we are still under attack every day and if we step out into the world and are not "..bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ(2 Corinthians 10:5)" then we leave ourselves open to a LOT. Following Jesus is not easy and we know that even when He asks something of us it is never going to be something easy or something we want to do. And giving up that homosexual lifestyle may not be something you want to do, but in order to be obedient it's what must be done. While we are to be judged by that heart, we are also judged by the fruits that we bear, and if Christians are bearing a homosexual lifestyle then that's contradictory to His word. We can debate whether the Romans translated this wrong, and granted there are certain words that don't translate, but if we truly believe in the Spirit of God, do you really believe that He would allow someone to tamper with His word alter it so that His people would be living in confusion for the next 2,000 or so years? I would say that is a lie of the enemy so that he could fool people into turning away from the Word and ultimately the belief of Christ. Surprisingly, the covenant that Tonex spoke of between same sex couples really speaks to the dual nature that Satan strives to have, for he wants to be like Christ and have things under the umbrella and guise of being Christlike. And while what I'm about to say next may be a reach I just pray that the Holy Spirit is with you and that you put away all feelings of anger or resentment that you might feel about people such as myself who see homosexuality as a sin, just like being straight and having premarital sex is a sin, please just put that outside and hear me out on what I am about to say. I pray that the Holy Spirit will intercede and allow you to read through a spiritual lense and not that if the flesh. Here it goes... The spirit of perversion has grown stronger over the years and things of the sexual nature have become more exposed. Those things of homosexuality have become more exposed and more accepted as they are recognized as their own community. Now if things continue as such and people believe they are born gay, and this spirit grows stronger young kids are going to start growing confused as they will be exposed to it a younger age and automatically think the first time they recognize someone of the same sex as being attractive, and while not attracted to them will believe that they themselves are gay. And then that ideology spreads and soon man only wants man, and woman only wants woman. Then Satan will have successfully undone creation and taken away God's proud title as Creator. While God is ruler of everything, there can be nothing to rule if there is no creation. For if people start to move into not being attracted to the opposite sex, then humans will cease to exist. And even with advances of technology may allow women to have babies, it is not of God's design and takes it out of his hands. Now it will never get to this, but I just want you to see how big this thing is. This is beyond preference, this is about Satan's attempt diminish the power and title of God as The Creator, for the devil is of dual and opposite nature of God so if God saught to create then Satan seeks to destroy. Now I am not condeming you to fire and brimstone. I think you have a loving heart and are of Christ and that is why I said what I said. That is why I wanted to share with you the bigger picture of what this could turn into. If you asked for the Spirit to intercede then you should have been able to read those things through a spiritual lense and not through the flesh as the flesh will be eager to attack but the Spirit is eager to understand. I don't want you to feel as though you are not loved and that we are here to keep telling you you're wrong, for I say to you please do not give up! Ask the Lord for His strength and guidance and to equip you with a discerning spirit to know who you need to speak of these things to and that they can lead you to where you need to be one with the Lord. While Tonex is right in saying the truth shall set you free, deliverance and obedience will make you right with the Lord. And while people ask to be free from the bondages of sin, we never ask to understand to give it all to Him("For My yoke is easy and My burden is light(Matthew 11:30)". So please ask for that because we have not because we ask not. Sometimes we ask for the wrong things in prayer thinking that they are right. While it might have been right for another person's situation and it looks similar to ours, God has a personal prescription for each and every one of us and if we keep on asking for the wrong prescription, He's not going to give it to us. Also, let us remember that following Christ is not easy and while you might be comfortable practicing a homosexual lifestyle, Christ's life on Earth was short of comfortable and was rather uncomfortable. Our lives won't be that much different in this world as He says "And you will be hated by all men for my name's sake(Mark 13:3)", "... but be of good cheer, for I have overcome the world(John 17:33)". So I just ask you to bear those things in mind for the person who "...endures to the end shall be saved(Mark 13:3)". I know it could be uncomfortable battling something that you feel is a part of you but turn it over to Jesus and He will make it right. It won't be easy and it may not be overnight, but take pride in knowing that YOU are being obedient to Him. And if you ever question the legitimacy of His word understand: "For as the rain comes down ,and the snow from heaven, and do not return there, but water the earth and make it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it(Isaiah 55:10-11)" And while Tonex may feel the way he does, he is not scripture and neither is any preacher. For they are held accountable and even more accountable to the Lord's congregation since He has appointed them leaders over His flock. So please follow Jesus. For even when Peter inquired about John to Him, Jesus asked him "If I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you? You follow Me(John 21:25". So don't concern yourself in what God is doing or what He has not done for Tonex yet, that is not your concern. You follow Him, and if you follow Him with all your heart and acknowledge Him in all your ways, seeking His ways and His heart and asking Him those things that concern you and your issues first, and putting on the full armour of God(for some of us are only putting on half), then you will come out of homosexuality, and while uncomfortable at first will serve as a great testimony to Him and His greatness. Amen.

You need to repent. 1. For being a judgmental unloving Christian. The sister is struggling with her issue and all you can do is offer harsh unloving advice. Who are you to be so unkind. Jesus saved you (I think) from all your filthy sins like the rest of us and like all of us you struggle with some sort of sin. DO NOT cast stones when you need the same salvation grace and mercy as the rest of us. God hates sin but loves the sinner. All deliverance is not immediate. Praise God for the sister opening her heart and life and asking for help. Sister if you are reading this please know that you are loved just as you are and that Love can take you through your struggle and into exactly what Christ desires you to be...free from all sorts of sin.

I just read your comment I,m not homosexual and i have nothing against gays and lesbians and Tonex either I do believe in The relationship of a male and female as one but I watching a lot of Apostolic Pentecostal preachers who are turning thier backs on this issue and stone a lot of people who are coming out but at the same time he is a example of what I mention to someone about 3 yrs ago in the same Apostolic Pentecostal Churches where these preachers preach hard against homosexuality

Here's a website for anyone who claims homosexuality but wants to know how to get away from it. These people (men & women) have dealt with (and of course it's a daily battle to overcome it), but they tell their stories and how they have overcome their homosexuality & turned to Christ and are no longer engaging in homosexuality. Yes, God loves you and Tonex, He wants your Souls...but guess what...if we continue in our sins, knowing that sin will deliver us straight to hell...what then? If you really want to be delivered...talk to Donnie McClurkin. I believe God has brought him out...or he just got plain ole tired of his sins! If it is the latter...then we pray that God allows life to remain in your body until you get tired of the sin. His word says that hell is our home if we die in sin. If you ONLY feel that you like other women...then you can be delivered, but just like fornication...if you are practicing the sin...then his word says we have no place in the Kingdom. It is real easy for us to sit in judgement and shake our Bibles when we haven't had to struggle with sexuality. If this was your child would you reject him? Would you want the Christian community to condemn him? How do we know he wasn't struggling? Don't you think that a person raised in the Church would do everything possible to not have the struggle? I think we have no idea and it is very easy to judge and quote scripture. Perhaps just sending God's love his way and all that God has his way would be best. What if we were judged by our transgression closet? Do we really think our sins are less serious? I just dont' think it black and white and we don't really have good ministries to support people who are different. Even if they wanted to change, we are so flip and negative why anyone come to us for help or love. Really?

Precious brother I agree we are not to judge but instead to show the love of God. But if you believe the Word of God, God desire all men and women no matter what the sin is to repeat and abstain from sin. He says be Holy for I am holy. So to be used we all have to live a life free from sin. Showing the love of God means to not judge and be there unconditionally, to be Christ on the earth. Read 1 Cor Chapter 4,5 and 6 and Romans Chapters 7 and 8

In reading some of the comments on various pages that are related to his tirade about homosexuality,I have to say as a woman of God,someone who has been taught the truth for many years,I am appalled.Some people believe that Tonex is correct and courageous in stating that he is openly gay and would make it into heaven if Jesus was to come right now.But knowing my God,the God of truth,the God that has went as far as to burn the city of Sodom and Gomorrah because of their homosexual activity,I do not believe that his statements are okay.The problem with this society,and I mean the church society,is that so many preachers are teaching a set of false doctrine and it confuses the church as a whole.We are not to conform to the world but to be set apart from the world.Yes,there is such a thing as free will however some things should be common knowledge especially to someone who says he was brought up in the church.He needs to really repent,relent and seek deliverance in this matter.As for those people that molested him,they also need to do the same because as a young boy they set the seed in for homosexuality and that is partly why he views his actions as being okay.I will pray for him and those that believe that homosexuality is not a sin.I will continue to pray for the society that is trying to legalize same sex marriage.I will continue to pray for those that denounce the name of God.

God loves you anyway rather you said you were gay or not, The God of the universe wants us to be not only honest with him but with each other. GOD by no means wants his people living a lie; therefore, if you are not living according to the word of God, It is a lie. Leviticus 18:22 States: " YOU SHALL NOT LIE WITH A MALE AS WITH A WOMAN. God spoke through the Apostle Paul and said "There is NO GOOD thing that lies in OUR FLESH" so; howbeit, me, you or anyone else do right EXCEPT the spirit of GOD lives in us to live a righteous. the fact that they are in such a situation should giv yu every reason to pray for them. as a believer the best thing yu can do for those struggling is to pray for them, that they see the light for what it is, b/c not praying is going to keep them in the same state they are in now, and thats not what we as Christians want. pray for their deliverence. homosexuality is a choice. this is what they need to realize. there is no homosexual gene nor can yu b born that way. i think he was lying when he sed the molestation is not the reason he iis gay, b/c i believe it is. but i'm just going to pray, b/c tonex goes thru so much and theres so many spirits in his life he just needs total revival and deliverence. i'm so hurt b/c he is so gifted musically. i just pray he looks in the mirror and c wats looking back at him.
