When a group of my students begged for the video game called " "Guitar Hero" I remember thinking that it would just be another tool for making more NOISE! something that I did not need more of. After a great deal of shaking my head in opposition I decided that I needed to do whatever it took to minimize the noise that I was dealing with at that moment. I gave in they began playing along with the game right away, and it did not take some of them long before they had the hang of some basic guitar chords. I started to change my mind about the game and allow them access to it on a consistent basis. The students who attend our school are already interested in music without having to be prompted or motivated by anyone else, and many are quite gifted, however there are some who were lacking confidence in of their abilities. Allowing them to play this game at school during music class has helped to increase their confidence levels, as well as their interest in the study of classical music. That is an accomplishment that any art teacher should be proud of. Some of them have started to produce video projects which are centered around their studies of varying music genres. These videos are being posted on you tube weekly. www.youtube.com/ahnevati We hope that you will enjoy them. To answer the question of whether there can be "Too Much Guitar Hero" lets just  say that while once I was blind, now I SEE there can NEVER be TOO MUCH GUITAR HERO!! ROCK ON!!

Thank you, I totally agree!!! Keeping young people busy with creative projects helps to keep them away from trouble!! Thanks to the music video games for helping to inspire my students to start a ROCK BAND!!

What an excellent idea - I totally agree that anything that gets kids involved in making music and being creative is a good thing, and if they think they are playing a game, that's even better!
