The trailer for Charlie Kaufman's directorial debut was released earlier today and reveals a twisted alternate reality with Philip Seymour Hoffman. When I say twisted, it's hard to tell how strange this film will be, but so far reviews have pegged it as a strange masterpiece.

The trailer's opening scenes reveal a dying Hoffman who wants to do something with his life, and over the course of the clip, viewers seem to watch him age, suggesting that this film covers many years.

Hints of quirkiness and outright fantasy subtly pop up near the end of the trailer and demonstrate that there is much more going on than we can imagine.
