If you got a piece of chocolate and dumped it in a pile of dog poo, that would be Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

There is a lot to admire in this third installment of the popular franchise. The action scenes, as usual, are very well-done. Michael Bay stopped using the shaky cam, so the audience is finally able to follow what's going on. More time is spent on the plot, so there's a story being told - even though it isn't a good one. And the 3D is the best since Avatar.

But - as always - Michael Bay struggles to direct an overall good movie. For starters, what is his obsession with making these flicks so damn long? These movies have enough plot to support 90 minutes at best. I love seeing robots beat each other up, but not for 30 straight minutes. Do we really need 50 supporting characters who ultimately contribute very little? And that new chick, whatever her name is, sucks. Where's Megan Fox?!
