Singer Trish Keenan Dies at 42 after H1N1 Complications

Trish Keenan, one half of British electronic art-pop duo Broadcast, has died at age 42 of complications from pneumonia, following two weeks in intensive care.

It was reported that Trish Keenan's pneumonia was complicated by an H1N1 (Swine Flu) infection.

Broadcast have released four full-length albums (including a collaboration with The Focus Group) and seven EPs since 1996.

Rumors of Keenan's illness began to surface earlier this week, after a Facebook user claiming to be the singer's sister posted on the band's Facebook page that Keenan was "fighting for her life."

Our thoughts go out to James, Martin, her friends and her family and we request that the public respect their wishes for privacy at this time.

Broadcast were scholars of experimental art and music, Keenan was as adept at using archaic machines to manipulate electronic sound as she was delivering her own dreamlike lyrics - which often came from use of techniques like the Surrealists' "automatic writing".
