Now we have work to do already. As I'm sure you've seen, fringe conspiracy theorist Jerome Corsi is all over the airwaves pushing his Barack Obama smear book. And John McCain's response? "Gotta keep your sense of humor."

Chuckling along with smear merchants like Jerome Corsi is what this country needs?

This is a classic example of the rightwing smear machine at work. Already, the Obama campaign has detailed 41 pages of errors and other aspects of the book that discredit it, but the book is the topic of conversation on news shows and on the radio. It's the smear machine at work: the book was published by Dick Cheney's hatchetwoman, propelled to the best-seller lists by bulk purchases from rightwing organizations, and spread on rightwing radio.

And John McCain's campaign, now run by Karl Rove's crew, tries to reap the benefits.

The only way to stop this is to fight back. Write your local paper, send emails to your friends, do whatever you can to show people what's going on. At the link, we wrote sample letters and emails for you, but it's always better to adapt it and put it in your own words.

We're fighting back; we won't stand by and let the rightwing get away with this again.
