Biomen's Hitler Shampoo Commercial: What the Fuck Were They Thinking?

Would you use Hitler to sell shampoo? Biomen would. In fact, Biomen did exactly that. Biomen's "Real men use Biomen" ad features Adolph Hitler giving one of his rants, with Turkish-language subtitles which read, "If you're not wearing women's clothes, you shouldn't be using women's shampoo either. Here it is. A real man's shampoo. Biomen. Real men use Biomen".

Clearly the agency behind this ad (which is airing on Turkish TV, despite protests from Jewish and civil-rights groups) were going for something along the lines of those "Hitler reacts" Youtube videos. To say that they missed the mark would be a major understatement.

Anti-semitism aside, what the fuck was the ad agency thinking? I mean, how dumb do you have to be to think, even for a moment, that airing an ad in which Hitler implores the audience to buy something would be met with a positive response?

Trying to out-douchebag the Axe campaigns is a sketchy strategy at best, but this is just stupid, plain and simple. The ad agency, whose name hasn't yet been bandied about, will surely have to issue a public apology.

"But it gets people talking!" Yeah... about how stupid Biomen was to hire that agency.

To be totally honest, though, I secretly love when ad agencies do something this breathtakingly stupid. Makes it easy to find stories in the morning. This Hitler ad is almost as horrific as the Courtney Stodden freecreditscore.com commercial.
