Twilight Saga Goes to the Max: Eclipse in IMAX!

Fans of The Twilight Saga will get to see the third installment of the vampire franchise in an even bigger and better way next year. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse will be released in IMAX theatres on June 30th 2010 when the movie hits regular theatres. This will be the first time that Summit Entertainment will be distributing a Twilight film to IMAX theatres.

Eclipse is directed by David Slade (Hard Candy) and stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner as they reprise their roles in the love triangle storyline of Twilight. Eclipse will be digitally remastered for an even bigger look and sound suitable for the IMAX experience. Twilight fans will literally feel like they are in Forks, Washington with Edward and Bella due to the unparalleled sound and crystal clear image quality that is the IMAX technology.

" 'Twilight' moviegoers will have a whole new way to experience this next installment of the series," explained Richie Fay, Summit Entertainment's president of domestic theatrical distribution, in a statement. "['Eclipse' will feature] the enhanced image and sound quality of the IMAX Experience, putting them in the movie. The IMAX release puts us on the event film calendar for 2010, and we're very excited to work with IMAX to bring a new kind of film to the IMAX theater network."

There's no word yet on whether Eclipse could also be released in 3D, but fans are already speculating about that possibility. Regardless, Eclipse is sure to sell out quickly, and the IMAX tickets will definitely be the first ones to go. Eclipse will remain in rotation throughout IMAX theatres and regular cinemas during the summer of 2010.
