The Twilight Saga: New Moon DVD Official Release Date Is March 20
The Official Twilight Twitter page from Summit Entertainment made an exciting announcement about the New Moon DVD release yesterday. The New Moon DVD release date will be Saturday March 20th. New Moon will be released in both a 2-disc Special Edition DVD and a Special Edition Blu-Ray format. Amazon does not currently have New Moon available for pre-order but it will likely show up on the site soon as the pre-sale is scheduled for January 26. The Twilight DVD will retail at $32.99 and the Blu-Ray at $34.99.
A lot of hype will once again be generated towards the lead-up to the March release date for New Moon. The DVD will be available in stores as of 12:01am on March 20th, meaning there will definitely be many in-store midnight release parties, particularly across North America as happened with the release of Twilight. Fans dress up as characters or in Twilight apparel, meet up in groups, and attend in-store parties with prize giveaways. Many Twilight DVD release parties featured appearances by cast members as well as a screening of the Twilight film. Here is the official announcement tweeted from the Twilight Twitter page from Summit:
The New Moon DVD date is official! On Sat., 3/20 be the first to get the 2-Disc Special Edition DVD or Special Edition Blu-Ray!
MTV.com posted some more detailed information on the specs of the New Moon DVD this morning to give fans a taste of what's in store for them in March. There will be a six part documentary about the creation of New Moon, music videos by Mute Math, Death Cab For Cutie, and Anya Marina, as well as rehearsal footage from Muse's New Moon track "Meet Me On The Equinox."
So far so good, but Twilight fans are already expressing their upset online about the details for the New Moon audio commentary. MTV reports that the audio commentary will be done by director Chris Weitz and editor Peter Lambert. Many fans are disappointed as they were expecting to hear Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart return for a couple of hours of joking around and commenting on their favourite scenes. The Twilight DVD commentary between Pattinson, Stewart, and director Catherine Hardwicke was very popular and fans were likely hoping for more of the same on the New Moon DVD with the addition of Taylor Lautner's more prominent character.
More details on the New Moon DVD are yet to be released but Summit will likely give out more information closer to the release date.
