New Moon, the second instalment in the Twilight Saga, is filming today in Vancouver's historic Gastown District. The Abbott Street cooridor between Water and Cordova Streets is shut down for the shoot with trucks, equipment, and storage overflowing onto the Western block of Water Street. No word yet on what scene being filmed is but the crew was focusing on Blood Alley, cutting between Water and Pender Streets to the West. Shop owners at boutiques like Nouvelle Nouvelle were unphased by the film crews and rabid fans; with the city's, known collquially as Hollywood North, burgeoning film industry Gastown is often used for scenes in movies filmed in Vancouver.

Local bloggers and Twitter-users have been snapping photos and posting updates on the progress of the filming so if you're looking for some info or snapshots of Robert Pattinson turn the the Twitterverse.
