Twitter Gets Defined: From the Web to Twebster's Dictionary
So the undefinable Twitter is getting defined, in a dictionary. Yup, Twitter is being added to Collins English Dictionary as of this year complete with noun and verb tenses.
So now when your mom asks you what exactly Twitter is you can skip the confusing explanation typically consisting of "um, well..it's kind of hard to explain. It's this kinda website thing where you like write random things, but they're not always that random, oh but they have to be short, like 140 characters short." Only to be asked, "but what's the point?" Well rejoice cause mama's got some hard facts to turn to now; just pick her up the 30th anniversary edition of Collins English Dicitonary and she can get Twitter, defined as both a noun and a verb, as well as Twitterati and Twitterverse elucidated by her generation's Google.
The entry under noun will read: "a website where people can post short messages about their current activities" and under verb it will read: "to write short messages on the Twitter website".
So there you have it, Twitter defined but still not understood.
