Twitter Profile Image Spam: FAIL

Twitter users 'round the globe have been noticing the latest hot trend in Twitter spam: Spam profile images! Oh, how clever: embed a link in your profile pic instead of tweeting out a bunch of fugly spam. Nice.

I had, like, five of them these Twitter profile spammers appearing in my follower list this morning. Totally gets in the way of my interiacting wth the real-life strippers who follow me on Twitter. How rude.

Ah, yes... image spam. It's been part of the email-o-sphere for years, and now it comes to Twitter, the sewer of the Internet.

Each of the cheeky profiles comes complete with a picture, featuring random pictures of young strumpets in variable stages of undress, together with an embedded message inviting users to connect via MSN.
Pasting text messages promoting IM webcam bots in the profile image (instead of lots of fake Twitter messages posted all over the place) seems to be the latest way to try and avoid the "obvious spammer banhammer".

(Once Twitter comes back online, I'll probably have even more. SPam is like Crocs: once a method is discovered, everyone has to try it)

I love the use of the word "strumpet" in any post, but it's especially useful in a spam article ;-)

I am going to test right now to see if  I get more followers simply for using a not-so-easily-recognizable picture of a celebrity, (without even changing my profile name)Lets see what happens.  I definetly do not plan to keep this test running forever :)
