Less than 24 hours after Canadian actor Corey Haim was pronounced dead, his long-time co-star Corey Feldman appeared on CNN’s Larry King Live to talk about his friends drug addiction.

Haim, best known for his roles alongside Feldman in The Lost Boys and License to Drive, collapsed in his apartment early Wednesday morning of an apparent accidental drug overdose, according to authorities. No illicit drugs were found at the scene.

“I know [Corey Haim’s battle with addiction] better than anybody,” said Feldman to Larry King, “because I’ve been the guy stuffing charcoal down his throat when he was ODing. It’s happened very badly and very intensely through the years on many occasions.”

Feldman acknowledged that Haim’s health was improving and that treatment for his drug habit was going well. At the time of his death, Haim had been signed onto 7 films to be released this year, according to the Internet Movie Database.

On CNN, Feldman asked the media not to speculate on Haim’s death and wait for the coroner’s report to determine if drugs were a factor.

Haim had been outspoken about his addiction on the A&E reality show, The Two Coreys, in which he stayed with Feldman and Feldman's wife, Susie Sprague. Haim was portrayed as a messy house guest—the opposite of Feldman—and the two frequently bickered about living together.

In 2008, Haim’s addiction got to Feldman and he told People he would not work with Haim until he was sober. The Two Coreys was canceled partway through its second season.

According to CNN, Feldman set up an intervention after Haim appeared on the set of The Lost Boys sequel “clearly under the influence.” Footage of Haim on set was filmed by A&E during the taping of their reality show.
